Tiger Wood’s Return to Glory

At the 83rd Masters Tournament Tiger Woods claimed victory after 11-years since his last Major win at the 2008 U.S. Open, showing one of the greatest comebacks in sport’s history. Woods entered the tournament the first time in 1995 and won two years later in 1997. Now, after 22 years he can add a fifth green jacket to his Augusta locker.

This unexpected win followed years of repeated surgery caused by major back injuries. He was unable to play - let alone walk, sit or stand. Although his body didn’t make a full recovery, he pieced his controversial life back together and got back on the golf course by focusing on his biggest asset - his hands.

This year’s nail-biting tournament kept audiences glued to their screens. The support and chants Woods pulled from the spectators were unmatched. It was only on the last day at the 12th hole that Tiger saw a window of opportunity. This comeback after years of struggle is “one of the biggest wins he’s ever had”, he commented in the media.

Alongside him was his 97-year-old mother, Tida, his children Sam and Charly and his girlfriend of 2 years, Erica Herman. In the eyes of the world, embracing his children the same way his dad did to him in 1997, made it a memorable day for Woods.
